I refer to the letter by John Agius titled ‘Cheated of eco-reduction’ (November 4). He is perfectly right but legally at fault.

This is the conclusion of the Ombudsman when he gave his final opinion in case no. K 0063 in which I asked him to investigate the matter of eco-reduction way back on February 11, 2010.

I took the matter up with ARMS Ltd on December 17, 2009 and all I got from them was a reference to Legal Notice 330/08 and the pro-rata rate they apply as per the legal notice.

I am prepared to furnish both Times of Malta and Agius with the Ombudsman’s eight-page report and final opinion.

This whole saga started under the Nationalists in 2008 and conveniently continues under the Labour administration.

I would advise all consumers to check their ARMS bills covering the months of July to September for eco-reduction. Like Agius and myself, many are likely to discover they got none.
