AQUILINA. On November 5, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, WALTER (former Director of Sea Malta), widower of Antonia, aged 94. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Emily and her husband Dr Anton Bencini, Wilfred and his wife Jan, his grandchildren Max, Francesca and Joe, his great-grandchildren Ivy and Vivian, his brother William, his carer Anna Gauci, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital on Saturday, November 8 for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. BONNICI. On November 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAOLA, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmen, Joe, John, Doris, Benjamin, Emanuel, Mario, Sister Paulanne of the Missionaries of Charity and Saviour, widower of Frances, née Bonnici, their respective husbands, wives, her sister, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, respective families and many relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, November 8 at 2.15pm for the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish church, Burmarrad, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment at the Divine Mercy Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. The family would like to show its sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at Mater Dei Hospital Medical Ward 4 and Casa Arkati, Mosta, where she was resident. CALAFATO. On November 5, at Charian Residence, Marsascala, LUCY, aged 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband John and her numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45pm for Marsascala parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CARUANA. On November 5, ALFRED (Freddie), aged 84, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Beloved husband of Valentine, née Borg-Barthet; loving father of Gabrielle and her husband Karl Grech Orr and Paul and his wife Ilanit, née Brandon; devoted grandfather of Stephanie, Christina, Julia and Claudia. He also leaves to mourn his loss his brothers Albert and his wife Joan, Joseph and his wife Marlene and Anthony, as well as his sisters-in-law Mary, widow of George and Evelyn, widow of Frank; his nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, November 8 at 8.45am at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FONDE. It is with great sorrow that the Salesian Community in Malta announces the passing of Fr JOSEPH FONDE, aged 87. Known as a holy man of God, always dedicated to his pastoral ministry, he will be greatly missed by many, especially the Salesian Community, by his brothers Victor and John, their wives Louise and Emma, and by his nephews and nieces Maria, Dominic, Marisa, Margaret and Richard. Fr Fonde was loved also by the many elderly persons he used to visit and comfort. The funeral will be celebrated today. The cortège leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre at 8am for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where a concelebrated Mass will start at 8.45am. After Mass the remains will be accompanied to Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery by the Salesian Fathers and family for interment in the Salesian Community’s grave. The Salesian Fathers are grateful to the staff at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre, Ward 2, for all the care shown to Fr Fonde. Although flowers would be appreciated, it was Fr Fonde’s wish that instead donations be given for the boys at St Patrick’s School, Sliema. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. May he rest in peace.

GHIGO. On November 4, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, aged 88. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Giovanna, his children Mary Anne and her husband Michael , Rita and her husband Anthony, his grandchildren Marvic and her husband Ronan, Daphne, Oriana and Warren, Rachel and Julian, Samuel and Martina, his great-grandchildren Ethan and Ben, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on today for Mqabba parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment at Mqabba Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar Tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
