Enjoying a vigorous social life and keeping active are crucial for the happiness of elderly persons. Moving to a nursing home enables elderly persons to focus their energies on their physical, social and spiritual well-being, knowing that their daily needs are taken care of by the home.

At Casa Antonia, the focus is on creating a warm family environment in which residents can truly live life to the full. The home’s social calendar is key to enabling this and ensuring that the residents’ right to a warm and loving home is honoured. Recreational activities provide opportunities for residents to connect with family and friends as well as to make the most of their skills and abilities. Social activities such as parties, quizzes and coffee mornings give residents the chance to socialise with other residents as well as to invite friends and family over to their home. The chapel provides a centre for spiritual and religious activities including daily Mass and regular communal prayers.

The weekly programmes are also changed to reflect the seasons. Summer programmes focus on swimming sessions, barbeques in the garden and outings to seaside venues, while winter programmes focus on indoor parties, dancing and musical recitals, and outings to cosy locations. Feasts and holidays provide various themes. Christmas at Casa Antonia is an exceptional month-long celebration. Casa Antonia hosts musical and dance performances from several drama and dance schools as well as adult and children choirs and local performers. Special meals and festive parties feature Christmas food and seasonal treats.

The weekly schedules are also designed for the physical well-being and cognitive enhancement of residents, varying from swimming sessions, dancing and keep fit, to history quizzes, reminiscent classes, and art and crafts sessions. The activities schedule is also altered regularly to reflect the abilities and needs of residents. Specific activities are also organised for residents suffering from dementia and other impairments.
