The Spanish Embassy is holding a seminar entitled ‘Spanish art in baroque Malta – a renewed understanding’ on Thursday.
The seminar is organised with Heritage Malta and in collaboration with Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, the History of Art Department at the University of Valencia, the Institute for Baroque Studies and the Department for Hispanic and Latin American Studies at the University of Malta.
The seminar, which will take place at the Aula Magna, Old University building, Valletta, will seek to take stock of the knowledge of Spanish art in Malta during the Baroque period, review the latest related works and explore potential new research paths on the subject.
Speakers will include Spanish leading experts on Spanish art in Malta, including Andrés Úbeda, head curator for Italian and French 17th century paintings, Museo Nacional del Prado, and Luis Arciniega from the History of Art Department, University of Valencia.
