The first international conference of the Quarantine Studies Network will be hosted by the University’s Mediterranean Institute at the Valletta campus, on Friday and Saturday. It is convened by John Chircop.
The conference, entitled ‘Mediterranean under quarantine’ brings together over 30 scholars and researchers in the social sciences, including epidemiology and the history of medicine and public health, from universities and institutes in Europe, North Africa, the US and Australia.
The participants will present new research and fresh theoretical approaches through papers focusing on the epidemiological, medical, social, political and cultural issues tied to quarantine.
