Writer Christine Attard has just launched a book, titled Life Rhymes for Young Minds, to help children understand their emotions better.

The book is presented as a collection of self-help poems which aim to address emotions and situations that children may be passing through as they grow up.

The book is intended for children between the ages of four and 11 but is also a useful tool for teachers, parents and adults to use as a means of opening a topic of conversation.

The book enables children to choose a topic suitable to the feelings and worries they may be passing through at the time.

Some of the topics covered include bullying, dealing with anger, accepting the beliefs of others and different types of families...

Each poem comes with an art challenge, the outcome of which can, in itself, be used as a tool to help them open up to the people around them by explaining the contents of their pictures.

Some of the topics covered touch on subjects such as bullying, dealing with anger, accepting the beliefs of others and different types of families. Some of the poems give children insight into why they feel the way they do and how to deal with their emotion, especially if their loved ones may not be around to help.

This empowers them and allows them to grow with some of the tools necessary to deal with similar situations in the future.
