The Malta Table Tennis Association (MTTA) have just held an extraordinary general meeting during which elections for a new executive committee was held.
The meeting was conducted by Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) secretary general Joseph Cassar and Director of Media Charles Camenzuli.
Elections were needed as 14 candidates contested the ballot and nine had to be elected. There were 59 MTTA members who cast their vote.
Those elected were Mark Grech (58 votes), Noel Schembri (56), Martin Zammit (55), Andrea Portelli (53), Charles Sammut (50), Alex Anastasi (45), Dennis Borg (44), Ossie Balzan (33) and Umberto Borg Cardona (33).
The others who contested the elections were Victor Grech (30 votes), Leslie Bajada (24), Mario Genovese (24), Edward Baldac-chino (13) and Dorianne Magri (13).
The newly-elected officials held their first official meeting at the end of the EGM during which Anastasi, a former Malta champion, was named as new president of the association.
Borg Cardona is the deputy president, Zammit general secretary and Grech treasurer.
