A man was jailed for three years this afternoon after admitting to the theft of various items, including paintings, bathroom mixers, and crystal chandeliers from a residence in Tarxien.

Christian Bonello, 29, from Paola, a sprayer who admitted he has a drug addiction problem, stole the items between October 17 and 27.

Among the things he stole were paintings, chandeliers, light fittings, tools, bathroom mixers and electrical fittings.

He also admitted to being a relapser and to committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale jailed the man for three years and recommended that he starts a drug rehabilitation programme.

Police Inspectors Hubert Cini and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted while lawyer Duncan Borg Myatt appeared for the accused.
