A Somali migrants was jailed for six months suspended for two years after pleading guilty to travelling from Malta to Denmark with a forged passport.

The migrant, who cannot be named as he is a minor, travelled with a counterfeit passport and other false documents last year. As soon as he arrived in Denmark, he tore up all the forged documents, prompting the Danish authorities to arrest him and interrogate him.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale jailed him for six months suspended for two years and warned the teenager about his conduct.

Inspector Darren Buhagiar represented the accused, while Lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace was legal aid.
