Faro base: The Gibraltar FA has confirmed that the Estadio do Algarve in Faro, Portugal, will continue to serve as the venue for the nation’s home Euro 2016 qualifiers. With Gibraltar currently bottom of Group D after suffering heavy defeats to Poland, Ireland and Georgia, the GFA has revealed on its official Facebook page that financial and security concerns over continued usage of the stadium have now been resolved.

Perez: Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez won two awards in Madrid on Monday night, recognising his impressive season at Tenerife last year. The 21-year-old was given dispensation by the Magpies to attend the Liga de Futbol Profesional’s annual awards and walked away with the Liga Adelante’s breakthrough player gong, as well being named the Segunda Division’s best attacking midfielder.

Riga sacked: Blackpool have sacked head coach Jose Riga after just four-and-a-half months in charge. The former Charlton boss has seen his side pick up only six points from their opening 14 games since he took the reins, a run which has left them rooted to the foot of the Championship. Working with a threadbare squad, which contained just eight players when the new season started, the 57-year-old has publicly questioned their transfer policy on a number of occasions.

Belarus: Andrey Zygmantovich has been named Belarus caretaker, the country’s football federation said. Belarus have been without a coach since Oct. 13 when Georgy Kondratyev resigned after picking up just one point from his team’s first three Euro 2016 qualifiers. Zygmantovich has worked with a number of clubs in Belarus, and had spells with Lithuanian side Kaunas and Russia’s Sibir Novosibirsk but has been without work since 2012.
