A consultation process on amendments needed to the Equal Opportunities Act, enacted 14 years ago, has been launched.

Launching the process, National Commission for Persons with a Disability chairman Oliver Scicluna said the law had served its purpose to defend and strengthen the rights of people with disabilities but there were aspects of it which needed to be strenghtened.

It also needed to cover new developments especially since Malta’s ratification of the UN Convention on the rights of people with a disability.

The consultation process ends on November 28. Suggestions may be sent to the commission at  yourfeedback@knpd.org or Kumitat Reviżjoni tal-Liġi, KNPD, Bugeia Institute, Santa Venera, SVR1619.
