Italian giants Inter look set to conduct a week-long training camp in Malta during the Serie A winter break in January, reports in the media said yesterday.

SportMediaset reported yesterday that Inter president Erik Thohir and club vice-president Javier Zanetti held talks with representatives from the Malta Football Association in Milan last week.

The report said that an agreement was close to be reached for Inter to travel to Malta for a week-long training camp after the Christmas recess. Inter’s last Serie A match before the winter break is on December 21 at home to Lazio.

No dates have been announced yet but the report said that Inter are expected to restart their preparations for the second part of the season in the last week of December where they are likely to make the trip to Malta.

It was also reported that at the end of their training camp, Walter Mazzarri’s side could figure in a friendly match against a Malta selection.

If the training camp is held, it would be Inter’s second trip to Malta in the new millennium following the one of 2002 when a new stand was inaugurated at the National Stadium.
