Name: McLaren P1 GTR Concept
Debut: 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, California
Appearance: 'Purposeful' would probably be the best word to describe the P1 GTR's combination of sinister smile at the front, sculpted spoiler at the rear and earthworm-worrying ride height, but at the same time it's also a huge understatement. There doesn't seem to be an ounce of fat on the P1 GTR's lithe frame, and while the company says form has followed brutally efficient function, it's an utterly beautiful thing to behold.
Prediction: McLaren is set to build the slick tyre-shod GTR for an elite band of extremely wealthy customers, who will get bespoke race training bordering on professional racing prep, as well as access to circuits to really explore what this 1,000-horsepower race-prepared P1 can really do. It's still officially a concept, but this is the halo model that will set GT3 racing benchmarks for years to come – just like the McLaren F1 GTR did in the mid-90s. Prepare to buy posters for your kids.
