A survey of 1,000 commuters found that almost 88 per cent of people who commute on a motorbike or scooter believe they are happier when they get to work than people who use other modes of travel.

The report, which analyses commuters’ subjective feelings about their own circumstances, backs up findings originally reported by the UK Office of National Statistics (ONS) earlier in the year, which found that car and bus users were the most unhappy and anxious.

Elsewhere in the survey, 67.8 per cent of riders believe their two-wheeled commute has a positive effect on their readiness to get stuck into work tasks.

Motorcycle Industy Association press officer Stevie Muir said: “The ONS report established that travelling to work on a motorcycle, scooter or moped is one of the least likely modes of transport to affect your well-being, and so it makes sense that the Bennetts survey reveals a positive commute leads to a positive attitude in the workplace.”
