First the Armier boathouses got their smart meters, now it’s the turn of the St Thomas Bay favelas. While the government’s intention to supply the meters to eradicate electricity theft is good I still think all governments, past and present, have been incredibly weak in handling this issue.

People who break the law should never be treated softly, and such squatters should have been kicked out a long time ago.

The government should remove all the existing boathouses in the country, build proper ones and rent them out for a stipulated time. This way, everyone would have the opportunity to rent a boathouse and the government would pocket the payment, remove the eyesores and stop squatters using government land without permission.
