The Institute of Director’s Malta branch (IoD) in conjunction with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and the Malta Institute of Management (MIM) are holding a workshop on ‘Why corporate service providers (CSPs) have no choice but to raise their standards in Malta’.

Roger Barker (pictured), the director of corporate governance and professional standards at the Institute of Directors UK, will be the keynote speaker for the event.

The workshop, being held at the MFSA in Mrieħel on November 13, will focus on how CSPs can meet the requirements of recent legislation and the working practices acceptable to the primary stakeholders. Other speakers are Michelle Buontempo, deputy director of the Securities and Markets Supervision Unit at the MFSA and Anthony Cremona, who leads the trusts and foundations team at Ganado & Associates.

Vodafone now provides 4G coverage to all its customers

All Vodafone prepaid and contractual customers now have access to the company’s 4G coverage.

Vodafone was the first service provider to bring 4G to Malta. Kicking off last November with the localities with the highest demand, by September coverage had increased to over 15 locations, reaching over 60 per cent of the population.

Vodafone is introducing two main 4G data bundles: a 500MB bundle for as little as €5 per month; and a 1GB bundle for €9 per month.

Brooks Brothers opens 54th European store in Malta

Brooks Brothers has officially opened an outlet in Valletta, which is its 54th store in Europe.

The US clothing brand entered the Maltese market in partnership with SMG-Mode Ltd, a subsidiary of Hal Mann Vella Group.

The 160 square metre store is spread over three floors and is located next to Café Cordina. The store will showcase the spring-summer 2014 men’s and women’s collection and the newly launched Red Fleece label.

Managing quality in projects

Malta University Consulting Ltd is offering a half-day seminar on managing quality in project management.

The seminar will be held on Thursday at the University Residence, Robert Mifsud Bonnici Street, Lija.

The seminar addresses how to go about planning and implementing project quality management that is integrated into the overall project plan and execution.

The speaker is Mary Grech Hardie, a quality systems coordinator at the Ministry for Energy and Health.
