Some €270,000 from European Social Fund are to be used for a digital promotion campaign for Gozo, the Parliamentary Secretariat for European Funds said.

Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg said the aim of the campaign was to place Gozo on a greater competitive level in the increasingly influential e-marketing sector of on-line interactivity, predominantly in the field of social media.

This would be done through the redesigning of the visitgozo web portal improving visual impact and visitor interactivity and retention with the aim of increasing interest in Gozo as a travel destination.

A recent study has showed that 30 per cent of visitors to the island quoted the internet as their source of travel information, compared to four per cent who said magazines and newspapers.
