The first national convention organised by the Nationalist Party started meeting last night.

The convention, which, in contrast to the party’s general council meetings, is open to all party members and not just to councillors, is aimed at opening up the internal party structures to all those who want to contribute towards the formulation of new polices.

The three-day convention, which is being held at the Corinthia San Ġorġ, St Julian’s, will see a number of speakers taking part, including academics, businessmen and NGO representatives, social partners and journalists.

The theme, Idea Malta, focuses on various aspects of the PN’s policies, including the economy, social inclusivity, the family, the role of civil society and Gozo.

It ends tomorrow with an address by party leader Simon Busuttil.
