Terry was my friend. We had been close for many, many years, during which we shared moments of joy and sorrow. She confided in me her innermost fears, preoccupations and thoughts and recounted her joys and often funny episodes. But this is not about me, or our friendship. I want to talk about her infinite kindness and compassion.

For several years, Terry was in charge of the inheritance unit at HSBC Bank Malta and, previously, also at the then Mid Med Bank.

A lady friend of mine, who once needed her services, has this to say of her: “At a time when I was struck by tragedy and despair, I found in her consolation and peace of mind because I knew she was looking after me and my interests with efficiency and concern. Her words of comfort and assurance were priceless at a time when I didn’t know what hit me.”

This was Terry. To her many clients, she was a source of genuine help and understanding. To her colleagues and bank staff, she was always ever so effortlessly forthcoming and supportive. She carried out her duties with utmost efficiency, empathy and patience.

To all her family, especially her sisters, Roseanne and Mary, her brother, James, and her niece, Rebecca, go my sincere thoughts of sympathy and my prayers. May they all find solace in the fact that Terry was a woman to be proud of, a woman who left no stone unturned to help and comfort her inevitably grief-stricken clients and, often, friends.

May God grant her eternal rest and shower her with the same compassion she had.
