MIZZI. On October 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, known as Joe, of Marsa, aged 76, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his dear wife Mary, his children Caroline and her husband Raymond, Christabel and her husband Mario, Mario and his wife Sandra, and Charmaine and her husband Walter, his grandchildren Jean Claude, Nathaniel, Ilona, Bertram, Jerome and the twins Elise and Celine, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8am for Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. PORTELLI. On October 22, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre, MARY of Mosta, aged 55, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Alfred, her children Helen and her husband Christopher, Joanne and her husband Timothy, Tania, Raymond and Marisa and their fiancés, her grandchildren Neil, Chloe, Gaia, Matthias and Lexie, her mother Theresa, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, October 25 at 8am for St Bartholomew’s parish church, Għargħur, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Għargħur cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SCHEMBRI. On October 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, GIUSEPPA, née Gauci, of Dingli, residing at Rabat, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Vicky, Kathy and her husband Twanny, Mary and her husband Peter, and Michael, her grandchildren Barbara and her husband Kais, Mark Anthony and his wife Doreen and Nickolette, her great-grandchildren Kalvin Lee and Elissa Noor, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30pm for St Paul’s Collegiate parish church, Rabat, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Margherita Cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Villa Mgr. Gonzi, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SPITERI. On October 21, at his residence in Sliema, MANNI, aged 79, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Anna, his children Adrian and his wife Anne, Graziella, and Neville and his fiancée Rebecca, his grandchildren Niki and his wife Martha and Matthew, his sister Victoria, widow of Alfred, his sisters-in-law, Elena and her husband Patrick, and Carmen, widow of Charles, nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated tomorrow at 9.30am at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, followed by private interment at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Seminar on new EU food information legislation

A seminar regarding the new EU food information for consumers regulation and its impact on producers and consumers will be held at the InterContinental Hotel, St Julian’s on October 30, at 9am.

It will focus on changes to existing legislation on food sold unpackaged and pre-packed food and is aimed at the business community, especially those in the hospitality and retail industries involved in the importation, production, retail and serving of gluten free food.

It is being organised by the Coeliac Association Malta as part of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of its foundation. The guest speaker is from the Association of European Coeliac Societies.
