Tragic ending: Police in Norway said yesterday that a body found at the mouth of the Hunnselva river in Gjovik was that of midfielder Thomas Andrew Morgan. A former team-mate of Cardiff City winger Mats Moller-Dehli at Lyn, 23-year-old Morgan played in Norway’s third tier for Gjovik-Lyn, and was reported missing last week.

Punished: Greek third division team Irodotos have been docked 15 points and ordered to play 10 matches behind closed doors following the death of an Ethnikos Piraeus fan. In one of the heaviest punishments handed out in Greek soccer, the Cretan club were also banned from all transfer activity until the end of the season and fined. Ethnikos fan Kostas Katsoulis, 46, suffered injuries during clashes between fans at a league match between Irodotos and Ethnikos on Sept. 15 in Crete.

Hull injuries: Hull pair Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson are set to miss up to six weeks with injuries sustained at the weekend. Jelavic injured his knee during the warm-up of Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal, while Dawson was forced off late on with an ankle injury. Both players underwent scans on Monday and the prognosis is that they will miss at least a month of action.

Simeone: Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone has been shortlisted by the Spanish Football League (LFP) for the coach of the year award. The Argentinian, who won the honour after the 2012-13 campaign, is up against Athletic Club boss Ernesto Valverde and Rayo Vallecano’s Paco Jemez. Champions League-winning coach Carlo Ancelotti and Unai Emery, who steered Sevilla to Europa League glory, have not been included on the list.
