Rugby Union: World Cup-winning former Australia flyhalf Stephen Larkham has turned down the chance of working under the new Wallabies coach on the upcoming tour of Europe to focus on his job at the ACT Brumbies. The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) is expected to name New South Wales Waratahs coach Michael Cheika as replacement for Ewen McKenzie before the squad departs on Friday. “While I was honoured to be considered, I felt like taking five weeks out of my first solo preparation for a Super Rugby season wouldn’t be fair on the Brumbies,” Larkham said.

Golf: Rory McIlroy has pulled out of next week’s BMW Masters and the following WGC HSBC Champions event in Shanghai to focus on his legal battle with his former management company, British media reported. McIlroy terminated his contract with Dublin-based Horizon Sports Management in Sept. 2013 to form his own management company and the protracted legal dispute is now set to go to trial. “I’m going to need time away from tournament golf to prepare for the trial,” McIlroy said in a statement yesterday.

Cricket: The Indian cricket board suspended all future tours with West Indies yesterday, and said it will take legal action against the Caribbean board for their team’s abrupt pullout from their India tour last week. The tourists abandoned the series after Friday’s fourth one-dayer, with another one-dayer, a Twenty20 international and three test matches left to play, over a protracted payment dispute between the players and their board.
