Malta will be awarding scholarships to more vulnerable and developing countries as part of its commitments to the UN Conference on Climate Change and to the EU.

Environment Minister Leo Brincat gave the information in reply to a question by MP Charlò Bonnici, who had asked for an estimate of the costs of the commitments to the protocol made by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at the UN conference.

Mr Brincat said Mala was recognised as a developed country and an EU member in the Kyoto Protocol, so it was obliged to provide financial resources and technical assistance to help more vulnerable countries implement the protocol.
