Some 60 rural roads across Malta and Gozo will be upgraded in the coming months, including the neglected one leading to Ħaġar Qim temples.
Triq il-Panorama, limits of Qrendi and Siġġiewi, will be improved at an estimated cost of €636,000. This road covers 16,312 square metres and is popular with locals and tourists.
Ħaġar Qim and the adjacent Mnajdra Temples are Unesco World Heritage Sites visited by thousands every year.
EU Funds Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg said there had been numerous pleas both at his office and at Transport Malta for this road to be upgraded.
Dr Borg explained that the proposed EU-funded project was intended to improve accessibility to agricultural holdings for farmers, which includes the upgrading of existing farm access and passageways.
