Figures provided by Environment Minister Leo Brincat showed that the amount of recycling by the Sant’ Antnin plant at Marsascala increased from 16,001 tons in 2012 to 21,760 tons in 2013.

Mr Brincat was answering a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Charlò Bonnici.

The figures, broken down in paper and cardboard, metal, plastic, glass and grey waste bags, showed that recycling in the first eight months of this year amounted to 14,032 tons.
