I would like to share my thoughts about the validity of holding a Kartanzjan in Malta and especially with the benefits that should be associated with it.

I do find that holding it has no major value except if one generally makes use of public transport or the Gozo ferry, or maybe to jump a queue. I do expect that this card should hold much more advantages for senior citizens especially where productions and major events are concerned.

Practically in all productions, shows and events held in Malta, and for which an entrance fee is applicable, no consideration is given to senior citizens so no special entrance rates are applied.

Now, the reason for the Kartanzjan is mainly to allow this sector of our population special privileges in return for their life-long contribution given to the State, but unfortunately in many circumstances, this is not the case.

The authorities should oblige producers and event organisers to make available special entrance rates to card holders however minimal these may be.

A case in point: I recently visited the Airshow. When I enquired at the door if special rates were available for Kartanzjan holders, the person issuing the tickets looked at me as if I had said something completely out of place.

Another example is when I recently booked an entrance ticket to watch Bla Kondixin: no special rates available there either.

I make use of my Kartanzjan much more when abroad than in my own country.

More opportunities should be made available for this card to be utilised.
