A friend of mine was telling me that one fine morning he found a note in his letterbox saying that the meter reader called, found no one at the premises and indicated a day and time for a second call.

Not to forget this second appointment, my friend, who lives on his own, fixed a note on the door but unfortunately, he had to go out early and something delayed him.

He was back home just five minutes after the appointment. The meter reader was checking his neighbour’s. My friend asked him if he would like to read his, since he was back, but the meter reader’s reply was: “Sorry, but I already left you another note. You can now read it yourself.”

So much for common sense.
