The disciplinary committee of the French League (LFP) will look into the untoward incident that marred the end of Saturday’s Nice vs Bastia Ligue 1 game with local fans looking to clash with the Corsican club’s players.

“Clashes between players and fans...are something we do not want to see anymore in football,” LFP chief Frederic Thiriez said.

“I have asked the (match) delegates for a report and the disciplinary committee will review the matter on Thursday.”

After Bastia won the match 1-0, dozens of Nice fans invaded the pitch looking to clash with Bastia players who were eventually escorted by police back to the dressing room.

Hodgson: Roo could be a top coach

Roy Hodgson would love to see Wayne Rooney go into management after he hangs his boots up.

Providing he avoids injury, Rooney will become the ninth player in history to win 100 England caps next month when he leads the Three Lions out against Slovenia at Wembley.

After he hangs up his boots, Hodgson is convinced the striker would be a successful manager.

“Wayne has a lot of playing time left so I can’t think he has given it much thought,” he said.

“But when you have had a career like he has had, or the likes of (Steven) Gerrard, (Frank) Lampard or (John) Terry have had, and you are that good a professional, then I would love to see them all stay in the game in a coaching or management role because they have so much to offer.”

Vidal denies he has been fined by Juve

Arturo Vidal has denied reports that he has been fined by Juventus for indiscipline, describing them as “ill-intentioned”.

The Chile midfielder has struggled for form and fitness this season. He was left out of the starting line-up for the clash against Roma two weeks ago amid reports that he had a late night out in the run-up to the match.

“My relationship with Juventus is very good. The coaching staff and my team mates have confidence in me and I have confidence in them,” said Vidal.

“The club has never fined me. The reports about this are wrong and, in some cases, ill-intentioned.

Klopp blasts team

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp said his side’s football was “pointless” after they fell to their fifth defeat on Saturday.

A 2-1 loss at Cologne plummeted the club into their “worst situation in years”, in the words of director of sport Michael Zorc.

“We played a kind of football which is absolutely pointless,” he said.

“We misplaced so many passes in the first half and made simple mistakes which can be explained in a whole host of ways, but still should not be happening.”

Aguero still hungry

Sergio Aguero hopes there are plenty more goals to come after smashing four past Tottenham to become Manchester City’s record Premier League scorer.

The Argentina striker scored all City’s goals as they overpowered 10-man Spurs 4-1 in an enthralling clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Aguero’s haul took him to 61 in the competition, three past compatriot Carlos Tevez’s mark of 58 for the club, to 85 in 132 City appearances overall.

“I am very happy to be part of the history of this club and I hope I can continue scoring goals,” said Aguero.

“But the most important thing is City can win games with my goals.”

Dutt future uncertain

Robin Dutt’s future as Werder Bremen coach is shrouded in doubt following his side’s 6-0 defeat at Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Bremen are still without a win all season and Saturday’s humiliating loss could see the club’s patience exhausted.

“It was absolutely dreadful,” the club’s director of sport Thomas Eichin said.

“That performance was not worthy of a Bundesliga side.

“There’s nothing good that can be said about it, but we will turn the corner.”

Eichin has given Dutt a vote of confidence, saying he should not shoulder the blame for one of the worst moments in the club’s recent history.

“It has nothing to do with the coach, but with the incredible fear and respect we showed Bayern,” he said,

Chievo Veronasack coach Corini

Chievo have sacked head coach Eugenio Corini following Saturday’s heavy defeat to Roma.

The Flying Donkeys find themselves in the Serie A relegation zone after going down 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.

It was a fifth defeat of the new season for a team which boasts only four points from seven games.

A club statement confirmed Corini had been relieved of his duties.

Reports in Italy suggest former Catania boss Rolando Maran is the front runner to succeed Corini at the Bentegodi ahead of next week’s home meeting with Genoa.
