Limited, an Advanced IBM Business Partner supplying statistics, data mining, data collection, survey research and text analysis solutions, held a seminar at SmartCity on practical uses of IBM-SPSS. This seminar targeted analysts from various businesses, industry and public sector organisations including iGaming executives, analysts, marketing personnel, researchers and government statisticians.
David Cutajar, People & Co. Limited CEO, gave an overview of IBM-SPSS Statistics and IBM-SPSS Modeller. He spoke about the IBM-SPSS approach to data mining and predictive analytics. He elaborated how a combination of IBM’s latest database technologies, business intelligence, social media analytics, and data and text mining, statistics and predictive analytics are now becoming increasingly integrated as IBM’s Business Analytics and Information Management Solutions.
The seminar included a number of guest speakers. Alphonse L. MacDonald, former director, United Nations Population Fund, Geneva, Switzerland, spoke about how IBM-SPSS can be effectively employed in scenarios like predicting the spread of Ebola.
Nikolai Livori, Yobetit CEO, delivered a presentation about the significance of market movements within sports betting. Richard Bonello, head of technology and IS at Deloitte, discussed synthesising text mining models for privacy related inference. Data mining offers organisations many benefits, including a more detailed view of their customers or assets, a clearer view of current conditions, and deeper insight into future events. By choosing a high performance data mining tool, organisations can mine their data more efficiently and understand the patterns in their data, allowing better decisions to be made.
IBM SPSS Modeller is a data mining workbench that enables improved decision making with quick development of predictive models using business expertise and quick deployment of these models into business operations.
Designed around the industry-standard CRISP-DM (Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) model, IBM-SPSS Modeller supports the entire data mining process, from business understanding through to deployment.
IBM-SPSS Modeller uses a client/server architecture, allowing resource-intensive operations to be executed on a server. This results in increased performance because memory intensive operations can be done on the server without downloading data to the client computer. IBM SPSS Modeller Server also provides support for SQL optimisation and in-database modelling capabilities, delivering further benefits in performance.
