I have always been a keen supporter of Voices and I always make it a point to attend their concerts together with family and friends.

This year was no exception, and while I thank the organisers, choir members, musicians and all participants I must say I noticed quite a difference to past performances, especially regarding the choice of songs.

Unfortunately, I noted that in this year’s edition the choir was mainly utilised as backing vocals for the soloist singers.

This should not be the case as initially Voices was launched as a choir made up of a large number of singers.

I believe that the audience would be more thrilled if the majority of songs chosen were suitable for large choirs, especially in such a unique event that only happens once every two years.

While not being at all against solo singers, who also contribute towards the success of the concerts, I believe that the effort made by all choir members who dedicate their precious time to rehearsals should be appreciated and utilised.

I would also like to share my doubts as to the choice of songs for this year’s concert.

I believe the organisers could have come up with a much better selection, especially in the first half of the concert.

Nevertheless, I wish Voices every success for the future and thank everyone involved for contributing towards such a noble cause.
