Grandparents Day was celebrated in Victoria last Sunday at an event organised by Grandparents Malta Foundation.

The foundation’s Gozo branch, led by president Marisa Scicluna and vice-president Elizabeth Bugeja, organised a 12-hour programme of activities at Villa Rundle. These included a Gozitan artists’ talent and musico-literary show and a Gozitan artisan market.

The event ended with the performance of two new Maltese songs written by Piju Spiteri with music by Philip Vella and Lynn Chircop. The latter also composed an English song dedicated to grandparents, sung by three grandchildren, Lizzie Ann Faure and Jordan and Luisa Chircop.

Gozo Minister Anton Refalo, parliamentary secretary Justyne Caruana, Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi and Grandparents Malta founder president Philip Chircop attended the event. Sandra Grech and Lelio Spiteri were comperes and George Mizzi was artistic director.
