Rabat Ajax 1
St George’s 0

Rabat Ajax bagged their first win of the season after they edged past St George’s at the Centenary Stadium yesterday.

It was a deserved victory for Joey Falzon’s men who struck the winner with their first attempt at goal on nine minutes.

Aidan Azzopardi was first to react following a melee inside the Saints box to drill the ball past Thomas Galea.

The Saints responded on 20 minutes when Noah Olowale Ojuola headed just wide from a Mark Tanti cross.

The Saints came very close to an equaliser in the 34th minute when Daniel Zerafa hit inches over following a Tanti cross.

Three minutes from the break, the Magpies almost doubled their lead when Chidozie’s shot was pushed away by Galea.

The match lost much of its momentum at the start of the second half with Rabat controlling proceedings as St George’s looked short of ideas.

Fifteen minutes from time Joseph Caruana’s header was tipped over by Galea while on 78 minutes Darren Galea beat two defenders but his shot was blocked by the St George’s goalkeeper.
