A man who is currently in prison was this afternoon charged with an armed robbery on a confectionery in Paola on December 28 and with an attempted robbery at a pharmacy in Qormi two days before.

Wayne Delia, 29, currently serving a prison sentence over another case, was turned in by his alleged partner-in-crime, Andrea Busuttil.

He was also charged with holding the salesgirl, pharmacists and two doctors against their will and being in possession of a weapon while he was committing the crime.

Before Magistrate Aaron Bugeja, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. No request for bail was made.

Police Inspectors Joseph Mercieca and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.
