Grealish: Rising Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year deal. The 19-year-old academy product has made his breakthrough with Villa this season, coming on as a substitute in four Premier League matches and playing the full 90 minutes of a League Cup tie.

History: Norway’s Martin Odegaard became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship qualifier in his side’s victory over Bulgaria in Oslo on Monday. The Stromsgodset midfielder, who is 15 years and 300 days old, came on in the 64th minute with the score at 1-1. Tormod Kjellsen was previously Norway’s youngest debutant, winning his first cap at the age of 15 years and 351 days when he played against Sweden in 1910.

Varane: Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane claims he turned down a move to Manchester United because they signed Phil Jones. Varane was one of the hottest young properties in Europe after breaking through at Lens and United, along with a host of other top clubs, were chasing his signature. The Frenchman ended up leaving for Real Madrid in the summer of 2011 after United decided to sign Jones from Blackburn Rovers. “Manchester United? They had just signed Phil Jones in my position,” Varane said.

King: Wales midfielder Andy King will miss the Euro 2016 qualifier in Belgium after being charged with violent conduct and could have his suspension increased by UEFA. Leicester City’s King was sent off for a late challenge in Wales’s 2-1 win against Cyprus on Monday. UEFA’s disciplinary commission will decide how many games King will serve in total.

Ferdinand: Former England captain Rio Ferdinand has been charged by the Football Association for misconduct following a comment he made on Twitter. “It is alleged the comment posted on his twitter account was abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper,” a FA statement read.
