Express Trailers and Żurrieq Wolves Athletic Club will be joining forces for a second time running on November 9 when the 17th Żurrieq Half Marathon and 10km race will be held.

The partnership yielded impressive results in 2013 with over 650 runners taking part in the Żurrieq Wolves events.

Again, the Malta Marathon Organising Committee was delegated by the Żurrieq Wolves committee with the organisation of the races.

Registrations are now open and the organisers are aiming to surpass 1,000 entries for the two events.

“We are delighted with how our annual events have been growing in numbers,” Mauro Pace Parascandalo, Żurrieq Wolves AC secretary, said.

“This, together with the sponsorship agreement with Express Trailers, keeps encouraging us to invest in making the races even bigger and more professionally organised.

“That, also thanks to the management provided by Joe Micallef and his Malta Marathon Organising Committee team.

“In fact, for the first time this year, we will also be introducing chip timing thus securing more accurate records.”

Pace Parascandalo said that after feedback from athletes who ran the half marathon last year, some minor changes will be effected to make the race safer, more athlete-friendly and, possibly, faster.

Franco Azzopardi, Express Trailers CEO, commended Żurrieq Wolves and the Malta Marathon Organising Committee for their dedication and their drive to see the races grow bigger and more successful.

He expressed his satisfaction that what started last year as a tentative collaboration has now developed into a successful partnership.

“Success and commitment are two values that are shared by us at Express Trailers and the Żurrieq Wolves Athletics Club,” he said.

“Based on the positive feedback of last year, we are highly confident that the 2014 edition of the Żurrieq races will be even more successful.”

Both races will start from in front of the Żurrieq parish church at 7.30am and 8.30am.
