Kramer: Germany midfielder Christoph Kramer has been ruled out of the Euro 2016 qualifier against Ireland in Gelsenkirchen with a stomach virus. Kramer joined a long list of absent players, including Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marco Reus and Mesut Ozil, as the Germans look to bounce back after the 2-0 defeat in Poland.

Worthington: Nigel Worthington has resigned as manager of York, the League Two club announced. The former Northern Ireland boss vacates a position he had held since March 2013 and leaves the Minstermen after only one win in 14 games in all competitions this term.

Suarez scores: Luis Suarez scored his first Uruguay goals since the World Cup finals and his biting ban in a 3-0 friendly win over Oman yesterday. Suarez took his international tally to 43 with strikes in the 57th and 66th minutes and substitute Jonathan Rodriguez added the third in the dying minutes of the game at the Al Buraimi stadium. It was the Barcelona striker’s second appearance for Uruguay on tour in the Middle East after Friday’s 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia.

Benzema: Karim Benzema is doubtful for France’s away friendly against Armenia today because of a minor foot injury. Coach Didier Deschamps said in-form striker Andre-Pierre Gignac should have more game time. “It is a given that Andre-Pierre Gignac will play more than against Portugal,” he said. Gignac replaced Benzema in the 90th minute in Les Bleus’ 2-1 win over Portugal on Saturday.

Walcott: Theo Walcott re-turned to full training with Arsenal yesterday following his lengthy absence with a knee injury. Walcott has not played since the 2-0 defeat of Tottenham in January. The 25-year-old was pictured in first-team training with the Gunners ahead of Saturday’s match with Hull. Serge Gnabry, who has been out since March with a knee problem, also trained yesterday.

Serie B: Varese-Cittadella 2-2.
