Nestlé creates employment opportunities for youths

Around 200 companies have joined forces under Nestlé’s Alliance for YOUth to tackle the youth unemployment crisis in Europe, pledging to create more than 100,000 opportunities for young people in the coming years.

“In the context of a challenging economic environment, with little to no growth, the Alliance for YOUth is committed to work hand in hand with policymakers and the education sector to foster both job employability and job creation,” Laurent Freixe, CEO, Nestlé Europe, said.

According to a survey done for the Alliance initiative, almost a quarter of young people in Europe see unemployment as the biggest problem faced by society over the next five to 10 years.

The alliance companies pledged to develop joint and individual initiatives to give young people work experience and internships, generating more than 100,000 jobs and training opportunities. Nestlé alone has created close to 8,000 opportunities in the last eight months.

Shireburn Software supports Home-Start Malta

Shireburn Software has given financial support to Home-Start Malta, a volunteer-based organisation that offers practical and emotional support to parents with children under five years of age, who could be hit by crisis or find themselves struggling to cope with their young family.

Home-Start believes that the best place for the children is in their own home. Trained and supervised volunteers visit the families in their home and support the family according to their situation. They might help in budgeting, preparing meals for the family together with the parent/s, or accompanying parent/s for appointments at school, hospital or where otherwise required.
