In a move that champions justice through transparency, a judge in the US, presiding over the case of force feeding of a hunger striking Syrian national imprisoned without trial for 12 years and actually ordered for release a full five years ago, has ordered the extensive videos of force feeding presented in court to be released to the public.

Will the successors of Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Abraham Lincoln comply or will President Barack Obama’s government appeal and try to keep the people in the dark regarding the conduct by an all powerful, all seeing military, in a prison the President had promised his electors he would shut down?

By the way, adding to its long list of euphemisms, such as speaking of ‘collateral damage’ to refer to bombing a school or hospital or killing civilians, ‘blue on blue’, which refer to shooting or bombing its own soldiers by mistake, the military is now referring to protesting hunger strikes as ‘long term, non-religious fasting’.

Therefore, I ask: what planet are these military people actually living on?

Hopefully not on a planet where the rule of law means far less to them than the rule of the boot and of the gun.
