• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo are organising a charity sale today at the football ground near the main car park, Victoria, from 7.30am to 1pm. A fee of €10 per car space is payable on the day.

• Grandparents Day will be celebrated in Gozo today from 9am to 5pm, at Villa Rundle Gardens, Victoria. There will be activities throughout the day for people of all ages, under the direction of George Mizzi. At 7pm there will be a musical and cultural evening.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm, followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• Masses at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Ħamet, will be said today at 9.30am and at 7.30pm.

• Pony races will be held at Xħajma racetrack, today at 1.30pm.

• The feast of St Francis of Assisi will be celebrated today at St Anthony church, Għajnsielem. The traditional blessing of pets and animals will be held at 10am on the church parvis.

• Muppets Most Wanted will be screened at Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm. The Book Thief will be screened on Saturday at 8.30pm.

• Ta’ Ħamet church will celebrate the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima with Mass tomorrow at 6pm, followed by a pilgrimage with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The celebrations end with the recitation of the traditional Kurunella and impartation of Eucharistic benediction.

• The second Gozo Live book fair will be held in conjunction with Gozo College at the girls’ school in Victoria, on Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 2pm and 4 to 7 pm, and on Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm.

• To mark the liturgical feast of Blessed Emperor Karl of Austria, the Malta Emperor Karl League of Prayers for Peace among Nations is organising a Mass at Għarb parish church on October 21 at 6.30 pm. League members and the public are invited to attend.

• Home Start Gozo, which helps families facing challenging times while bringing up very young children, is organising a free seminar at Dar Gużeppa Debono, Għajnsielem, on October 24 from 9.30am to 1pm. Registration is at 9am. It will be addressed by family coach and consultant Julian Xuereb and Home Start staff and volunteers. To reserve a place e-mail Nancy Portelli at homestartgozo @gmail.com.

• The Diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening on Saturday at 8pm at Good Shepherd church, Victoria, followed by Mass at midnight.

• Oasi Foundation is organising a road run/walk on November 2, from 9am onwards. There will be a 10km road run for adults, 1.5km road run for children aged nine to 15 and a five-kilometre fun walk.
