Britain's Queen Elizabeth made actress Angelina Jolie an honorary Dame at a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday in recognition of her campaigning to end sexual violence in war zones and for services to UK foreign policy.
The queen presented Oscar-winning Jolie, who is special envoy to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross.
Dressed in a pale suit, she shook hands with the queen.
Jolie is currently based in Malta where she is filming the film By the Sea.
GEORGE CLOONEY SURPRISE APPEARANCE
Fresh off his nuptials actor George Clooney made a surprise appearance at New York Comic Con on Thursday.
Clooney surprised fans during a panel discussion about his new Disney film "Tomorrowland."
The actor recently wed human rights attorney Amal Ramzi Alamuddin in Italy on September 29th.
The newlywed revealed this was his first time attending the so-called 'nerd conference' and joked that his panned "Batman" performance was the reason why he had never attended.
Country-turned-pop singer Taylor Swift has been named Billboard's Woman of the Year becoming the first artist to win the honor more than once.
Swift, 24, who shot to prominence in 2006 as a teenage country sensation and has been able to successfully cross over into pop music, will release her fifth album "1989" on Oct. 27.
