Malta Formula Racing driver Keith Camilleri has secured enough funding to compete at the seventh and final round of the FIA Formula 4 Italian championship to be held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, this weekend.

Camilleri was set to miss the series following a similar situation that cost him participation at the Monza and Magione races due to financial issues.

However, after surveying Camilleri’s performances in the championship, UPS and a foreign investor made contact and procured the necessary support so that the Maltese pilot will be racing again this weekend.

Imola is not a new venue for the 21-year-old as he raced in the famous circuit in June for the second round of the championship.

On that occasion, he did remarkably well, obtaining an excellent fifth place overall having started ninth on the grid.

Camilleri said he was relieved to have secured the necessary funding for the last round of the season, and thanked UPS and the foreign investor who believed in his abilities and in his dedicated team.

“Imola is a circuit that I really enjoyed so I am extremely looking forward to racing there again,” he said.

“We understand that the car can perform much better than before, so I’m cautiously optimistic we can do really well this weekend.”

Malta Formula Racing team reach Imola on a high after a fruitful weekend in Monza with two pole positions and three race wins thanks to Mattia Drudi.

Drudi, a former race winner at Imola, will be joining Camilleri in the sister F&M car together with Mahaveer Raghunatan who continues to show signs of progress.

Zack Dante, however, will be missing the final round due to an injury he sustained inVallelunga last month.

Highlights from Race 1 and Race 2 of the F4 Italian championship, followed by a live broadcast of Race 3, may be followed on TVM2 from 12.30pm onwards, tomorrow.
