I have just purchased two varieties of fish, in frozen form, from a well-established food outlet in Malta, these being lampuki (dorado) and Nile perch.

However, while being unaware of the spawning capabilities of these fish or how far they travel to do so, the lampuki’s country of origin was given on the packet as being Vietnam and the Nile perch as Thailand.

This prompted me to wonder what is the relevance of a name or the significance of the origin of the species as not all sprouts hail from Brussels nor is all Cheddar cheese produced in that locality.
