On October 3, I had the privilege of attending the blessing and presentation of the new colours to the Armed Forces of Malta.

As a former serving member of the British armed forces, this event was indeed a very nostalgic and memorable one.

The entire parade went on with typical military precision.

The turnout of all the officers and other ranks forming the four guards was the smartest I have ever seen of the AFM and the timing was really and truly perfect throughout.

Sincerest congratulations are highly merited throughout to all the ranks of the AFM. The new colours are made of pure silk and are heavily embroidered in gold and silver thick thread. They are the same as the old ones in design. The only difference is the fine quality of the material. The last time this ceremony was held was 26 years ago when the now old colours were presented.
