The crux of the hunting problem in Malta is the two-party system. Both major parties are at fault because they are so keen to criticise each other that they cannot agree to present a common front on major issues. The hunting lobby uses a form of political blackmail.
If both major political parties were to unite to seek what is best for these islands, this type of blackmail will lose its impact.
If the hunters threaten to organise their own political party, so should the environmentalists. One will balance the other. If both major parties put aside stupid differences, there would not be any such need. In a choice between two parties, the threat of blackmail will not succeed.
Wake up.
The political leaders must lead and maintain order and ensure that nature and the environment include the birds on which the hunters do not have a monopoly.
