The Hibernians Basketball Club nursery will again offer a series of training programmes for young players in season 2014/15.

At a news conference held recently at the Corradino Pavilion, Charles Deguara, the president of Hibernians BC, said the nursery has the added benefit of being able to make use of the club’s excellent facilities which, together with the service provided by its dedicated coaches, ensured that the youngsters can develop their athletic and physical attributes.

He also thanked David Attard, a member of the club committee, for his valuable contribution in the field of sports medicine.

It was also announced that the Hibernians nursery has hired the services of two former professional players, Silvia Gambino and Fabrizio Mariani, who played for Italy’s national youth team during their career.

Anthony Cassar, the nursery head coach and administrator, said: “The nursery is committed to promoting a balanced motor and cognitive development in children which should be individually-based.”

Cassar also announced that Kurt Cassar, a product of the Hibernians nursery, is currently having a trial in Italy.
