My 10-year old granddaughter needed to have a new passport. My daughter produced a new passport photograph of the child who was wearing a one centimetre-wide hair band and which by no means was covering any part of the child’s face.
The passport officer refused to accept the photo produced saying that the child’s face should not be in any way hindered. My daughter was left with no other choice but to turn back and leave.
However, while on her way out, she noticed a foreigner with most of her face covered entering the office, a photo in hand, which seemed to have been accepted.
One can only wonder whether we are being discriminated against in our own country.
