A 37-year-old Libyan man was remanded into custody today after having been charged in court with trafficking a kilo of cannabis.

Acrem Ammar Swajjal from Tripoli, who resides in St Paul’s Bay was arrested last week.

Fellow Libyan Abdul Nassir, a witness to the case, was ordered not to testify by Magistrate Myriam Haymen, on fear that he might incriminate himself.

The Magistrate told Mr Nassir to consult a lawyer before taking the witness stand as he may risk landing himself with a simple possession charge.
