Malta Enterprise is at an advanced stage of discussions with a number of companies interested in setting up operations in the Life Sciences Park.

These companies represent a broad range of subsectors and niches, from bio-electronics to genome sequencing, from bio-informatics to the production of isotopes for PET scanners, among others.

“What we want are lines of research, development, innovative and scientific production services which are at an advanced stage and ready to go to the market,” says Malta Enterprise chairman Mario Vella, “We are finally at a stage where we are closing deals.”

Tenants will be foreign as well as Maltese. Of the latter, the first to sign up is AAT, which produces devices that emit electronic impulses to help children with disability communicate better.

The third building will be a Digital Creativity Hub dedicated to sophisticated IT, aimed at bio-informatics, which will complement the other activities of the park. At the moment, plans for another two buildings and the hinterland are on hold, pending conclusion of the first tenants’ agreements.
