The owners of a travel agency in Msida this morning foiled an attempted hold-up and held a man wielding a knife until the police arrived.

The incident happened at about 11 am at HFA Travel Ltd.

The man brandishing a knife, entered the office and demanded money.

The travel agent who was at the desk, Andrew Fenech Azzopardi, refused and warned the man he would set his dog at him.

As soon as the dog - an Italian Mastif called Bella - moved, the thief fled.

He was caught shortly after by the travel agency owner, his son and dome people who joined in. They held him until the police arrived.

Nothing was stolen and no one was injured.
