A new Dog Park was inaugurated at Ta' Qali today to mark World Animal Welfare Day.

The park was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary Roderick Galdes.

It is aimed at providing a means for recreation and exercise for dogs.

Mr Galdes said this park followed other measures including the designation of swim zones for dogs.

The park is divided into two areas, for large and small dogs and features furniture which dogs can play with.

The total cost was €20,000.

Mr Galdes said the government has also bought two animal ambulances fitted out with the necessary equipment and airconditioning.

He said the ambulances of the Animal Welfare Department are in use round the close and assist some 2,500 animals every year.
